Underwater Mechanical Service
We provide different types of underwater mechanical services. The main among them are underwater cutting and underwater welding.
Underwater Cutting
There are many common points between cutting procedure on the surface and underwater cutting. However, the latter involves the use of special equipment. The importance of underwater cutting lies in the fact that the use of it is in various applications. These include preparing plates before welding, repairing damage due to accidents and rescue operations. In one type of underwater cutting procedure, pressurised oxygen is made to pass through hollow rods. An electrical current strikes the rods and ignites these. After being lit, these rods start burning with intense heat. The high temperature helps the rods to burn continuously in the water and it is possible to cut both through metal and concrete. There are other procedures also.
Underwater Welding
Underwater welding is very effective for different underwater repairs. The electrodes you need for this procedure are waterproof. Our diver technicians use fully insulated waterproof electrode holder and the gas that the waterproof electrodes release preserves the integrity of the welding. Cables and hoses provide a direct current of about 300-400amps from the welding equipment to burn the electrodes. Both the welding rod and the workpiece gets heated by the electric arc. The transfer of the molten metal is through the gas bubble present around the arc. A diver technician effectively carries out the welding as the current flow induces transfer of metal droplets from the electrode to the work-piece. For welding also, there are different procedures.
For underwater welding and cutting procedures, we have highly experienced divers. They have experience in weld repairs on sheet piles and other underwater welding services. Some underwater cutting services include removal of underwater obstructions, pipelines, demolished objects and sheet piles. Underwater welding is also necessary to join many parts of construction and pipelines. Our professional workforce inspects the area of work at first and then decides how to carry out the procedure.
