Submarine Pipeline for Oil & Gas

The function of a submarine pipeline is to supply oil or gas. The other terms for this are subsea, marine or offshore pipeline. We carry out this job of laying submarine pipelines for reputed companies. There are many factors that we need to consider before starting any project. These include submarine landslides, seabed mobility, waves and currents. There are three different systems of pipeline construction. These are S-Lay, J-Lay, and Tow-In.

Tow-In Pipeline Installation

Buoyancy modules help to suspend the pipe in the water and the towing of the pipe into place is done by tug boats. As the pipe reaches the location, removal of the buoyancy modules takes place and the pipe remains floating on the seafloor.

S-Lay Pipeline Installation

As the boat moves forward, we begin to slowly release the pipe from the vessel. The pipe reaches the seafloor in a curved form. It takes the form of an ‘S’ in the seabed as more pipe is being released from the boat.

J-Lay Pipeline Installation

We can insert the pipeline into the sea in an almost vertical position in this procedure. A tall tower lifts the pipe on a boat and it is inserted into the sea. The pipe curves only once and takes the shape of a ‘J’ under the water.
